Q: Why isn’t it called ScebtheSpaceChicken.com?
A: Fred called dibs on getting the site named after him, much to the dismay of Sceb.

Q: What is the point of the cartoons?
A: First and foremost the cartoons are there to bring some joy to the people all over Earth. Humor is an amazing and uplifting thing, and FredtheMonkey.com is just out to make the world a better place. Some cartoons have real messages behind them, also in an attempt to improve the globe as a whole.

Q: Who is JKR?
A: JKR is the creator of FredtheMonkey.com, and of the comic Cubetoons. He is an illustrator, animator, author, graphic designer, family chef that lives in the USA and works full time on both FredtheMonkey.com and Cubetoons.com. And sometimes he writes fiction in his spare time, which he almost never actually has.

Q: Why are there two different modes with the same cartoons?
A: Beyond the Toon mode and Classic Fred mode were added with the last redesign of FredtheMonkey.com for a simple reason: ads. FredtheMonkey.com costs money to upkeep, and the site needed a way to support itself. However JKR has always vowed to keep Fred ad-free for people to enjoy. Enjoying the cartoons is the number one reason for the site. So what to do? The solution was to have two modes. Classic Fred is for those people who do not want any ads whatsoever. Beyond the Toon is for those who want to help support FredtheMonkey.com or don’t mind subtle ads being there, plus want a little inside info from the creators. For full details, check the explanation here.

Q: If you “update every week”, how come sometimes there’s no new cartoon of Friday?
A: Currently JKR does all the animation and most of the voices himself. When doing such things alone, it takes much more time because if he needs to take a break, no work gets done in that time. Plus with Cubetoons.com needing comics and updates as well, you’ll have to forgive him for being late once in a while with the cartoons.

Q: I don’t like the new site design, why’d you have to ruin it?
A: It is true that the newest version of FredtheMonkey.com is very different than the past. Hopefully in time it will grow on you if you don’t like it right now. Sometimes it is hard when something changes like that, but with any luck you’ll find the new version even better than the last!

Q: Can I link to your website from my site/blog/forum signature?
A: That would be great! Spreading the word about FredtheMonkey.com is one way to help support the site. For a some banners and images you can use, here is a link.

Q: How long does it take to make each cartoon?
A: Each cartoon has a different amount of work attached, so there’s no simple answer. Mailbags, if there is no new artwork in them, take less time than full cartoons, and probably run up about 12 hours of work spread out over the week. The full toons take much, much longer than that.

Q: I sent Sceb an email, why didn’t he use it in the Mailbag?
A: Sceb gets a lot of email every week, and even if he gave up video games he probably couldn’t answer them all. So he picks a few and puts them into the Mailbag. Don’t be discouraged if your email doesn’t make it in, just try again with a new question later.

Q: I have a great idea for a Fred cartoon! Where should I send it?
A: If you have an idea or suggestion for a FredtheMonkey cartoon, head over to the forums and share it! Though we may not use the idea directly, we try to read every story that comes along at the very least. Or if you’re up for giving art a shot, you can put together your own fan work of Fred and the crew, and show it off to everyone over in the FredtheMonkey.com Forums! We’ve got a special section just for fan work!
